In the final seconds, pure elation erupted for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola in a state of despair and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old in his dotage.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the era's defining coach, a man with four decades of silverware for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his senior managerial bow after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
