From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
